Ventura Publisher 1.0

Ventura Publisher, originally from Xerox, is a professional desktop publishing program for the GEM graphical environment and later Windows. It has the distinction of being the first popular publishing program for the IBM PC platform. It competed with Aldus PageMaker, which initially was more popular on the Mac platform. There are also versions for Mac and OS/2.

Version 1.0 managed to leapfrog PageMaker by having many additional features. It ran acceptably on IBM PC/XT class computers, while having the versatility of the GEM environment, enabling it to use many different display adapters and printers.

This version includes a GEM runtime. It installs directly in DOS, no additional software is needed. To install, run vpprep.exe on disk 1.

Archive includes eleven 5.25" 360k floppy disk images.

Video supported: IBM CGA, EGA, Hercules, Xerox 6065 / AT&T 6300, MDS Genius Full Page Display, Xerox Full Page Display, Wyse WY-700 Display. Supports Epson MX/FX, HP LaserJet, and PostScript printers.
