QNX is a compact Unix-like real-time operating system that was originally designed for the IBM PC and later used in embedded devices. The versions here are for IBM PC compatibles.
This version contains copy protection. Because of this, QNX 1.2 can access hard drives, but can not normally be booted directly from a hard drive.
Protection type: Mis-numbered sector on track 39 head 1.
Unprotect:
The protection can be bypassed by modifying qnx12_boot.img in a hex editor.
Patch byte at 0x004a5a9, change from 0x74 to 0xEB
0x74 is a JZ instruction 0xEB is an unconditional JMP.
Note: qnx12_dosfsys_ has some bad sectors, but are in unused space. This seems to be an extra copy but differs from the original.
