hDC Windows Express 2.x

hDC Windows Express, trigonally named "clickstart", is a "Complete Menu System" shell for Microsoft Windows. The earliest version was designed for Microsoft Windows 1.x. It provides a Program Manager-like menu shell, where one can choose an application from a menu rather than browsing through the file system with the MS-DOS Executive.

It comes with a predefined menu containing applications common at the time. Items may be password protected, application items can prompt to select from a list of existing documents, a menu hierarchy can have multiple levels, and each item may have a user-defined icon. It even has a screen saver. A separate executable edits menus, so an administrator may give a user just the main program, which the user can not alter.
