4th Dimension is a powerful and feature rich multi-user database for the Apple Macintosh. It features graphical creation of forms, reports, and graphs, a powerful programming language, and databases can be multi-user over AppleTalk networks.
It was originally developed for Apple, under the code name Silver Surfer, with the intention of Apple selling the product directly. While this did not happen, it was eventually released in the US by Acius, Inc.
Initially It competed against Omnis, Double Helix, and dBase Mac.
The software was later ported to Windows and other platforms, and modern incarnations are available from 4D SAS http://www.4d.com/
