GUIDO Music Learning System (1996) 1 Audio DOS

First Released in 1986 by the University of Delaware, GUIDO (Graded Units for Interactive Dictation Operations) was self-paced Ear Training instructional software designed by and for use at the University of Delaware. It was originally programmed on a Burroughs 6700 and later ported to the PLATO system, before it was redesigned for use on the IBM-PC/XT/AT.

HyperDOS (1990) 0 Utility PIM DOS

HyperDOS is a simplistic menu shell bundled with Leading Technology PCs and offered as a standalone commercial product. It includes a file manager, built in help, and a number of accessories. It tries to clone the general appearance of the IBM PS/1 shell. Oddly, it starts off in a GUI mode, but all of the tools are text mode programs. Version 2.0 includes the ability to use sound cards.

Instant Artist / Print Artist (1992) 81 Graphics Publishing Novelty DOS

Instant Artist, later renamed to Print Artist, is a greeting card and sign creation program that uses vectorized graphics. It was created by The Pixellite Group, the original authors of The Print Shop, and published in 1992 by Autodesk. It was later sold by Sierra On-line. It features a high quality set of generic reusable clip art. The clip art uses vector based technology that was also used in BannerMania.

It's Legal (1990) 0 Document DOS

Another great Parsons product on Winworld, It's Legal is a program that assists home users in creating complex legally binding documents. It walks users though the process of gathering required information, automatically makes certain decisions, and produces a printed document. It includes wills, power of attorney, employment agreements, promissory notes, leases, and consumer letters. The documents can be used by themselves, or as a draft for an attorney.

Jingle Disk (1986) 0 Novelty DOS

ThoughtWare's Jingle Disk was a stocking stuffer for the computer geek in 1986. It plays several pieces of music on the PC speaker as it animates several winter images. It can also print a simple greeting card to a dot matrix printer using these images. While there were similar shareware or freeware programs, this was a commercial program

Lotus Metro (1986) 0 Utility PIM DOS

Lotus Metro is a set of resident desktop management tools similar to Borland Sidekick or Popcorn desktop. Metro includes an appointment book, phone book, scheduler, calculator, clipboard, and a text editor. A user can call up these tools while almost any other DOS program is running. In addition to performing small tasks without exiting their primary program, Metro can copy information from or to the screen. It also include macro functionality for automating tasks comparable to Borland SuperKey. It was primarily targeted at existing users of Lotus 1-2-3 and Lotus Symphony.

Lotus Notes is a powerful e-mail and collaboration tool. It was heavily used by large corporations. It was sometimes criticized for its complexity and bloat. Notes is a client server tool, and uses the Lotus Domino server (originally just called Lotus Notes server). Lotus Notes and Lotus Domino competed against Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Exchange.

MemoryMate is an easy to use memory-resident free-form database. It automatically indexes content so all you have to do is type in a keyword to find your record. As a free-form database, you can use it much like a Personal Information Manager, but you can use it for any kind of data you want. You can set it to show you "reminders" at a certain date.
