Project Manager Workbench 2.x

Project Manager Workbench, later just called Project Workbench, is a powerful, full featured, professional project management program for DOS. At the time, it was also very pricey.

It incorporates Critical Path Method and Program Evaluation and Review Technique functionality. It features resource tracking, design goals, activities, project schedules, and excels at handling project change and "what if" forecasting. It supports GANTT charts, CPM network charts, dependency definition diagrams, planning reports, dependency reports, work effort reports and cost reports. Project Workbench includes a "spillover" feature that works as a form of virtual memory.

This program was available in two versions: Standard and Advanced. The Advanced version can handle larger projects.

Project Workbench was available for IBM PC, Wang PC, and DEC Rainbow.

Project Workbench competed against Harvard Total Project Manager, SuperProject Plus, Microsoft Project, and Timeline

Important: This software is copy protected, and no unprotect is known to exist. To run the IBM PC version, you must either recreate a copy protected disk with the images provided, or run in an emulator that supports copy protected disks such as PCE. Protection type: Mis-numbered sector on track 39 head 1.

Note: This software checks the DOS version at startup and refuses to run on DOS 5.0 or later. To work around this, add an entry to setver with the command "SETVER PMW.COM 3.30".

The DEC Rainbow version is specifically for the DEC Rainbow. It will not run on an IBM PC, PC clones, or PC emulators. The rainbow disks use the DEC Rainbow RX50 format - single sided, double density, 96tpi, 80 tracks, 10 sectors of 512 bytes per track. Protection type on the Rainbow disks: Misnumbered sector on track 79 of the backup disk.
